The Tale of the Coke

A story from Palestinian heritage...
In Palestinian – Once upon a time… In ancient times,
And the story is only sweetened by mentioning the Prophet… Peace be upon him…
It was during the era of the army
Al-Asmali… Meaning the days of the Turks when they ruled Palestine…
There was a farmer named
Darwish…
He is poor Darwish... He feeds the chickens and steals feathers... He is foolish at God's door...
His wife was Fahima... She was understanding... But she was overwhelmed by her life and her problems with her foolish husband.
Darwish... When the world became too small for her... And her situation became unbearable... She said to him:
Take the cow
that is our livelihood... and go to the city and sell it in the market... maybe you can get ten or twenty
pounds for it...
Fahima got up and prepared food and water for Darwish, took the cow and gave it to him...
She said to him:
Trust in God and go to the city... and come back before sunset.
Darwish pulled
the cow... On the way, he got tired and sat down to rest under a tree... He tied the cow to the tree... He spread
the napkin with the provisions and supplies... And while he was still saying Bismillah... He heard the sound of a crow above
the tree... Darwish looked up and said to it:
What do you want, crow? Do you want to buy the cow?
The crow said
:
Caw... Caw... Caw
He said
:
Okay... I'll pay you twenty pounds.
The crow said
: Caw... Caw... Caw
He said
: Where
? The money... Under the tree….
The bird said:
Kok….kok…. kok
Darwish dug under the tree… He saw a large clay jar
filled with gold… gold coins… He counted twenty gold coins… and returned the rest… and buried
the jar as it was… and looked up… He said:
May God bless this cow...
I took what was rightfully hers and returned the rest...
The hen said:
Cluck... cluck...
Cluck
His wife, Faheema, was surprised to see her husband return home before his appointed time, so she said to him: How quickly you returned... Where is the cow? He said to her: I sold it to the falcon for twenty gold coins. She saw the gold coins and got excited... She grabbed him by the throat... And didn't let go until he told her the whole story from beginning to end Ali...
She saw the money
and the gold, and she got excited...
and she grabbed him by the throat... and she didn't let go until he told her the story from beginning to end
.
She said to him:
May God grant you good health.
She quickly went to the tree... and saw the cow tied up in its place... She opened the jar... and found it full of gold
. She took the gold and hid it in her clothes, pulled the cow, and returned home... When Darwish saw her, he became
, shouting and slapping her face
, saying:
, it's forbidden for you to steal a cow.
She was afraid that the fool would complain to the ruler... So she made some zangal and zalabieh
(a dessert similar to the popular "qadhi's morsel") and went up to the roof and threw it at him... And he was happy to pick it up
and eat it...
and say:
Oh, peace be upon you, children... The world is raining zankal
and zalabia
And one day, Darwish got angry with his wife and said, "By God, I will go to the governor and tell him that you stole the cow
and took its money...
She did not care about his words and threats...
The fool went to the governor and told him the story from beginning to end
... The governor summoned
Fahima and asked her about the cow and the jar of gold... She said to him:
Peace be upon you, O Governor... My husband is foolish and crazy...
He imagines things that don't happen... And if you don't believe me, ask him when this
story happened?
The governor asked him... and the fool said: "
" One day it rained heavily and flooded... "
" The governor laughed and said to Fahima: "
" May God help you with "
" This husband... take your husband and go "
" to your house "
" Fahima got up, packed her belongings, and left Berbera for "
" Bir al-Sabea...
